In terms of proportions, the moon is unique in that it is uncommonly large compared to its host planet. This relative proportion has not been found elsewhere in the known universe. Additionally, and statistically impossible, our lunar neighbor is also precisely the correct size and in the correct position to cause a near perfect totality during a solar eclipse, where it ever-so-eloquently blocks our lifegiving star, edge-to-edge. Bathed in the all-consuming umbra, this stunning celestial sight cannot be witnessed anywhere else in the unfathomably vast interstellar sea of darkness, dust and detritus.
Now you know. What you don’t know is another, clandestine, apocryphal event that occurs without warning, causing calamity, mayhem and fueling epic prose. Shrouded in mystery, legend, and diversionary tactics, only revealing itself during peak moments to re-stabilize the constabulatory. Appearing in the early hours of the autumn sky, caressing the horizon, oddly assimilating the non-descript shape of a Plymouth van. The followers of this occurrence cannot be dissuaded. Some devotees are endlessly fluid, changing at every occurrence on the fringes, others remaining solid at the core. As they gather, excitement, fear, anticipation and a primal lust for carnage forcibly pull nearby gawkers and curiosity seekers into the growing melee of carnal chants, masochistic machinery, burning sweat, ragged duct tape and extra large denim overalls. The scene gathers ethereal quality amid the dust. As clarity fades, we detect a certain strangeness, a certain unreality to the occurrence – unbelievable in its existence…. We have heard these events are increasingly rare, difficult to find, however endlessly rewarding on numerous intra-dimensional levels . We step closer. Astride three wheeled steeds of pure terror, yowling like corpuscular predators, the throbbing mob plummets into the sandy abyss, lost in fear, powered by devotion, clawing for the Cup.
