What's the M-Check?

The M-Check is the mechanic's habit of tracing an “M” over the bike so nothing gets missed: start at the front wheel, up to the bars & headset, down through the frame & bottom bracket, up to the saddle, then down to the rear wheel. This checklist follows that same path, then adds a test ride. Switching between Road and Mountain shows the checks specific to that bike (suspension, dropper posts and pivots for mountain; rim brakes and shifters for road). Items marked DEAL-BREAKER are structural faults — a single “Bad” there means walk away. Items marked COSTLY-REPAIR are still buyable, but flag an expensive fix to factor into your offer.
